The Bankers' Books Evidence Act, 2026 repeals and replaces the Bankers' Books Evidence Act, 1891, the law on admitting bank records as evidence.

11 Sep 2026Briefnewly addedThe Finance Ministry notified that the Act comes into force on 1 October 2026. It extends "bankers' books" to electronic, digital and cloud records. It lets certified copies of these records be admitted as evidence.
