India's bioeconomy

India set out its vaccine and bioeconomy figures at a meeting in New Delhi. Volume, rather than value, is what the claim to be the world's largest producer rests on.

  • The bioeconomy was valued at 195.3 billion United States dollars (USD) for 2025, 18 per cent up on the previous year.
  • India puts its share at about 60 per cent of global vaccine production, reaching more than 100 countries.
  • It meets over 65 per cent of the World Health Organisation's (WHO) routine immunisation requirements.
