- India's claim to be the world's largest vaccine producer rests on volume rather than value.
What changed

- A NITI Aayog roadmap proposes a ₹50,000 crore BioEconomy Growth Fund for 2026 to 35, to take the bioeconomy to about $691 billion by 2035.
- It also proposes six national missions, including GeneIndia for gene and cell therapies and AgriBio 2.0 for gene edited crops.
- Under the BioE3 policy of 2024, biofoundries and biomanufacturing facilities have been funded, and a strain resource centre supplies indigenous production microbes.
